An Experiential Presentation of Autism and Law Enforcement

Eventually, we all will find ourselves face-to-face with a police officer.  Being on the Autism Spectrum could present a situation that may pose a risk to the individual.  Learn from Aaron Likens how he trains police officers to recognize, identify, and deal with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. What you learn can help you talk to your children about how to deal with and respond with police officers. Diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome, Aaron will talk about his personal story and how he communicates with law enforcement and other first responders.

Learning objectives:

  • Discuss situations where we may need to communicate with a police officer
  • Discuss behaviors that might endanger a person on the Spectrum
  • Discuss Crisis Intervention Training (CIT)
